The giant dredge Queen of the Netherlands arrived at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay around 7:30am AEST today.
This massive 22,689 tonne ship is claimed to be state-of-the-art as far as TSHDs (Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers) go. The Queen of the Netherlands is owned by Dutch firm Boskalis who have formed an alliance with the Port of Melbourne Corporation to undertake the capital dredging workds associated with the Channel Deepening Project (CDP).
